Paint with Alexis Kandra

Our mission is to produce children's books that reflect collaborations in storytelling between grownups and children and that incorporate innovative art. We hope that reading our books will inspire readers to personalize the narrative and experiment with different forms of art. To show you how to do this, we teamed up with Alexis Kandra, a talented artist and an art teacher, and created a guide to draw your own magical worlds based on the paintings Alexis created for our best-selling children's book 'The Redwood Tree and Its Friends'.

We now invite you to be part of our world and become writers, artists and doers! All you need is some paper, a pencil, a ruler and coloring materials of your choice. Simply follow by clicking on the video below and enjoy this project with children or even on your own!

If you enjoy what you see, make sure to explore the story of 'The Redwood Tree and Its Friends', available on our website as a hardcover and on Amazon as an e-book.

Be writers, be artists, be doers! Vlada

Alexis lives and works in New York City. Born in Pittsburgh PA, she grew up with a passion for making art and the natural world. As a child, she took art classes at the Carnegie Museum of Art and Natural History, which fostered her love of dioramas, biodiversity, and searching for our place in the universe. She received her BFA in painting from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia.

You can learn more about Alexis and her work here as well as follow her on Facebook and Instagram.
